Hare: Khun The Bug
Farm Ang Thong
Complete and Utter Fantasy
This
scribe admits to being a little depressed heading
to this run with the fact we had run in this area
some many times, I set my own runs out of Farm Ang
Thong, and knowing that the group that went to Pattaya
would be having a much better time. But, I went
to show my support for BH3, the GM, and most important
the BUG, who despite taking so much shit for this
run, was actually a stand-in Hare and trying to
do his best.
We
arrived at the run with a smaller, but elite group
of BH3’s finest hashers. Already I was feeling better
about attending the run, and coming back to this
classic running country. Some of the committee had
not abandoned the Bug or the GM in favor of Pattaya
(although we found out at the on-on-on that this
was not out of heroics, but because one committee
member’s better—and bigger—half was going to Pattaya,
given him a pink ticket in Bangkok—but that’s the
Hash isn’t it.)
The
Bug managed to pull out a few surprises in this
popular area: long winding trails across soft meadows,
with the cool breeze blowing; the soft smell of
flowers and eucalyptus; the young ladies with long
black hair offering beer and comfort at convenient
stops along the way all made this one of the more
memorable Farm Ang Thong runs.
The
on-on-on continued the surprises with a huge pig
roasting on a spit, copious amounts of potatoes,
gravy and trimmings. The food was so good, even
the GM put away his biases for the night and tucked
in to the feast. We finished with warm apple pie—and
a real treat—clotted cream on top.
The
on-on-on went well into the evening, lubricated
by cold beer, and we struck up a beautiful chorus
of Hash songs. None in this small group (quality
over quantity!) wanted to be the first to leave
and break the magic spell. Finally, as the wee hours
of the morning approached, we drifted home, Hash
songs humming in our head.
